Shorter showers

- One minute shower with warm water uses more energy (2.6 kWh) than lighting the house for a day (5×8 W LED’s for 16 hours is 0.7 kWh)
- A normal shower uses 15-18 liters of water per minute. If a shower lasts 5 minutes as opposed to 10, the reduction is about 22,000 liters per year. In a family of four, this means a water saving of over 87,000 liters annually

Southern European countries will have summers of serious water shortages whereby they have to limit the availability of water – either by closing the taps or through pricing.
A mandatory or voluntary technical installation or similar “heavy” technology into the shower systems in each household will not be a global solution. These are costly, require a specialist to install and are labour heavy, which is not possible in most part of the world. The world needs a simple and cheap solution.
